Our Velindre Cancer Charity Work

Welcome to our annual charity hub, a dedicated space celebrating our ongoing mission to support vital causes.

This timeline showcases our yearly fundraising events, where we share photos and highlights from each campaign we run. What began as a winter initiative has now grown into a proud annual summertime tradition, allowing us to bring people together for a great cause.

Why We Fight

Our focus remains firmly on supporting the Velindre Cancer Centre in Wales. This cause is incredibly close to our hearts; cancer touches almost everyone, with one in two people facing a diagnosis in their lifetime. We are privileged to back their mission year after year, helping to fund essential care, research, and patient support.

24 HOUR LIVE STREAM

🏆 The One That Started It All: Our First 24-Hour Live Stream

We kicked off our annual charity journey last year with an intense, non-stop 24-hour live stream, raising an incredible £1,500 for the Velindre Cancer Centre in Wales!

Taking on a full 24-hour stream during the winter was always going to be a challenge. The conditions were difficult at times, but luck was on our side. We avoided any heavy downpours and escaped the worst of the winter cold—giving us just about the perfect weather window to keep pushing through the night.

The Big Finds 🪙

The ground treated us well, and we managed to pull up some fantastic history. The highlights included:

  • A beautiful hammered coin
  • Multiple silver coins
  • A collection of fantastic historic finds uncovered by Terry

Community Over Coins

While the history we pulled from the ground was exciting, this event was never truly about the finds. It was about coming together for a cause that touches so many families across Wales.

For our very first live stream, the level of support we received from everyone watching and donating was absolutely tremendous. Your energy kept us going through the darkest hours of the night, and the £1,500 raised exceeded all of our expectations. This successful debut set the perfect groundwork for all our future summer events.

Thank you to everyone who watched, chatted, and donated!

☀️ The Legacy Grows: Our 25-Hour Summer Live Stream

We officially moved our annual event to the summer for 2026, pushing our limits with a non-stop 25-hour live stream that raised a massive £2,237 without gift aid (pushing past £2,600 with gift aid included) for the Velindre Cancer Centre!

This year marked a permanent shift in our charity tradition. Moving forward, we are keeping this as a summertime event and creating a true legacy: we are adding exactly one hour to the stream every single year. Smashing this 25-hour milestone sets the stage for next year's 26-hour challenge!

Unbelievable Finds from the Field ⏱️

The summer ground brought some spectacular history to light, giving both of us moments we will never forget. This year's top highlights included:

  • My first-ever pocket watch!
  • A stunning Bull Head silver coin
  • Terry's incredible haul, including a beautiful King Charles silver coin, a milled silver coin, and several other gorgeous silvers.

Breaking Records for the Cause

The finds were absolutely brilliant this year, but our main focus is always the impact we can make for the charity. To smash our previous total and raise over £2,237 (over £2,600 with gift aid) is a truly fantastic feat.

The generosity, chat engagement, and overall support from everyone who tuned in was overwhelming. You gave us the energy to power through that extra hour, and every penny raised goes directly to supporting cancer patients and their families across Wales.

A Special Thank You 🤝

An event like this takes a village, and we couldn't do it alone. We want to say a massive, heartfelt thank you to my Wife Megan, and Terrys Partner Becca for keeping us going behind the scenes, and to the team at Crawfords & Minelab for their incredible backing. Your outstanding support across both of our charity events has been absolutely vital to our success, and we appreciate you immensely!
