THE 30 SHILLING SECRET: UNEARTHING A RARE JAMES 1ST COIN WEIGHT

Welcome to week three of my weekly finds! I’ve had some incredible luck lately, but the absolute star of the week has to be this spectacular James I copper-alloy coin weight. It was made specifically to test the massive gold Rose Ryal, which was worth a whopping 30 shillings back in the early 1600s! Both faces are in stunning condition, and I’m completely blown away by the detail. I’ve never personally uncovered one that mimics the actual hammered coinage design so perfectly. What an absolute dream of a find!

Talk about a plot twist! I also pulled up a vintage 1970s Starsky & Hutch red Ford Torino toy car, a barrel, and a handful of coins. At first glance on the beach, I honestly thought it was just a modern plastic reproduction or a cheap copy of the original 1970s vintage model. It wasn’t until I got back home, cleaned the sand off, and really looked at it that the truth hit me—this is a genuine, original vintage die-cast car! Because it’s in such breathtakingly excellent condition, someone must have dropped it out of their collection just recently. It is easily one of the most beautiful toy cars I've ever found!

To cap it off for the week we had, I managed to squeeze in one last short hunt. Even though it was just a quick session where I was detecting whilst I was waiting to do some filming, the ground really delivered. I found a beautiful little kids toy gun like a pistol, a beautiful Georgian buckle, and a South Wales Borderers cap badge. That badge is incredibly special to me because it is my own regiment. Finding all of that within the space of an hour using the Minelab Vanquish 360 was just unbelievable. Well, some really beautiful finds there to close her up. I can't wait for next week's finds to see what we can uncover. Thanks for reading my blog and I will see you all soon, guys.
