My Metal Detecting Journey: Discovering Hidden Gems
14. June 2026

Weekly Metal Detecting Blog- 14/06/2026-WEEK 1

Intro

This week has been absolutely outstanding! I focused heavily on beach detecting, partly because the tide times were perfect, but also because our usual farm fields have grown too tall. We’re waiting for them to be cut for silage, so the beach has been a goldmine.

Major Finds of the Week
I hit a real surprise: three old silver coins, all over 100 years old! First, I unearthed two George V silver threepences and a Queen Victoria Jubilee Head shilling—finding them on the beach was such a rarity. The Victorian shilling was about 15 inches down—I couldn’t believe it! And, as always, all these incredible finds were made live on stream. I do all my detecting in the evenings while live streaming—it’s such a thrill to share these moments. Come check them out on my TikTok account, @theartefactaddict.

Alongside those silvers, I also found a titanium ring with a lovely name laser-etched inside, a Cart wheel penny, and a vintage Boy Scout badge from the 1920s—what a find! And the find of the week is definitely half a child's gold ring.

Other Highlights
This week, gear was key. I mostly used the Minelab Manticore with the 15-inch coil—just amazing depth. I also gave the Minelab Vanquish 360 such a fantastic entry-level detector; it really delivered. For digging, I stuck with the CKG Root Slayer (super lightweight at 1 kg), and the Emitter 200X sand scoop—tough and robust! My finds bag is the Relix one, and of course, I used the Garrett AT Pro pointer—couldn’t do without it.

Next week (and probably the following), I’ll keep hitting the beach, unless some grass gets cut we may sneak onto the farm. I’ll also be doing another coin clean live next Thursday and Friday at lunchtime—those have gone really well, especially with the cupra Nickel coins.

I can’t wait to see you all on the live stream—hope you enjoyed the blog! If you have any questions, drop them in the comments below—I’d love to get some discussion going!
